People also claim that they heard weird sounds coming from the beach, like people laughing and someone crying with no living souls around. Locals also said to have witnessed white apparitions and moving orbs in the beach.

The forest is said to be the site of several murders and suicides, and that the ghosts of the victims still roam the area. People have reported seeing a headless boy, a woman in white, and a red-eyed figure in the forest. The forest is also known for its eerie sounds, such as footsteps, laughter, and screams.

A small stretch of road between the Dow Hill and the Forest office in Kurseong has been named as the ‘Death road’ by the locals. Rumor has it that an blood-curdling apparition of a headless boy is seen to be walking on the roads and ultimately, disappearing into the darkness of the forest. The locals avoid the woods even in broad daylight. There have been several accounts of people experiencing an eerie feeling of being followed or being watched after walking through the woods.

Creepily enough, many have reported the occurrence of a blazing, red eye that was gleaming in the dark. The ghost of a woman in grey was also spotted in the mist-covered woods of the Dow Hill. It is believed that the forest has an evil entity of its own that makes people lose their mental balance and go insane, if they ever dare to wander deep into it. As the rumor goes, many have been driven to such a point that they succumbed to the malevolent influence and committed suicide!
